HOW TO PRIME YOUR BODY BEFORE A CLEANSE:

For one to three days prior to your cleanse, phase out acid forming foods like:

Meat, Dairy, Alcohol, Sugar as well as any vegetable oils.

  • Any meats or fish you eat should be prepared simply (no heavy/saucy foods) and from a responsible supplier (wild caught, grass fed, antibiotic and hormone free etc.)
  • Also as a bonus focus on a water
  • Rich fruits and veggies: cucumber, celery, tomato, romaine lettuce etc.
  • Drink 2+ liters of water daily

A WFPB DIET

Follow a simple Whole Foods Plant Based(WFPB) Diet

where the majority of foods you’re taking in are grown in the earth, fresh, and living. This does not have to be a totally vegetarian diet but as much as you can sustainably manage.

SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS:

1. Remove as many temptations as you possibly can ahead of time. Cleansing is a tool for building healthy habits, so it is an excellent excuse to clean out your cupboard and eliminate your access to chemical-, preservative-, nutritionally deficient- processed foods.

2. Take time now to schedule in workouts (light to moderate exercise especially yoga is strongly encouraged!), naps, healing sessions (lymph drain massage, acupuncture, sauna sessions), even sleep (8+ hours this week!).

3. Find a friend, colleague or family member who can act as your accountability partner and support you during your cleanse.

4. Most importantly, set your intentions and have faith in yourself. You can do this! This is a short period in the long run but has the potential to be transformative. You are stronger and more capable than you think.

Start the day with a cup of hot water with lemon. First smoothie of the day is always green! This is about building healthy habits.

Create internal heat by drinking hot water with ginger, cinnamon, dried lychee, goji or dates.

In between smoothies & blends, fill up empty bottles with hot ginger lemon water or herbal teas.

In between smoothies, take the Elixir Shots and Super Powders, for added energy and fiber!

Drink 2 liters+ of clean water to maximize toxin flush and balance internal pH.

For warming blends, remove metal lid and sleeve, heat over stove or microwave on high for 2-3 minutes.

IF YOU GET HUNGRY (CHEAT SHEET):

a few celery stalks      half of a sliced cucumber     • 1/4 mashed avocado with lemon & sea salt

raw leaf salad with lemon     a small handful of raw nuts      a carrot stalk

Day 1-3: Feeling a little tired or hungry (especially on day 2) is normal. You may also feel emotional or a little weak. If you have caffeine or sugar addictions or high toxin build up, headaches are common. Toxins stored in fat cells are being released and circulated in your blood which can cause not-so-fun symptoms. These days are typically the toughest – show self-care and power through! Drink extra water, herbal tea (ginger and mint help to curb cravings!) Deep breathing, meditation, massage, yoga and extra sleep will help you during this time.

Day 4-5: You should feel less hunger and heightened energy levels. Toxic matter is moving through your system, and you may experience not-so-pleasant effects like minor skin breakouts, unusual body odors, changes in your stool or strange dreams. Support your body by getting your sweat on, using the bathroom regularly, dry brushing and sleeping.

Day 6-7: Day 6-7: By this time, most cleansers experience high energy, vibrancy and more mental clarity. You will be more sensitive to smells, tastes and more aware of your body’s needs. You will have better sleep and a glow to your skin.

  • Normal: Skin breakouts (toxins leaving skin), unusual perspiration smells.
  • Abnormal: Large rashes
  • Normal: Small bouts of bloating, diarrhea, nausea, minor constipation (toxins leaving digestive tract).
  • Abnormal: Blood in stool, prolonged diarrhea or constipation, continuous vomiting.
  • Normal: Fatigue, small bouts of dizziness, joint pain, light headedness (toxins processed through liver)

POST CLEANSE:

Think you’re done after your last sip of Green Elixir? Think of the cleanse as a start to a healthier path. If you find the green smoothies work for your body, aim to keep them as a breakfast staple. For the days directly after the cleanse, try to stick to a vegan diet without any of the sugar or alcohol that you (fingers crossed) no longer crave anyways ☺ Post-cleanse days should mirror the pre-cleanse diet.

CLEANSE TRANSITION EATING PLAN:

Day 1: Avoid all processed and cooked foods. Drink your normal hot lemon water and green smoothie in the morning. Chew your food well (30 times per bite) and go heavy on the raw veggies. If you are craving something warm or savoury opt for a vegetable soup or broth. Avoid meat, most starches and alcohol.

Day 2: Stick to your hot water with lemon and morning green smoothie. Increase the size of your raw salads and incorporate more steamed veggies and simple broth.

Day 3: Start the day with a green smoothie! You can add even larger and more colorful salads for other meals and even starchy vegetables like sweet potato or root vegetables. If you are a meat eater, add in a small portion of clean protein.
